MYTHS OF THE LEFT!

 

 Over the better course of eight years, I’ve worked Elections as a Poll Worker.

Though I didn’t work this last Presidential Election, I’ve worked virtually every Primary and Regular Election since 2008. I’ve gone and spent about a 17 hour day making sure that people got to vote and that the process was carried out in accordance to Election laws. I’ve tried to make sure that even if someone was in the wrong polling place we pointed them to where they could vote and if they had a problem we made sure they were able to file an affidavit ballot so that their vote was counted.

I believe it’s important we vote and the sad thing is how many people in this country abstain from this one very important right they have. I’m even frustrated a helluva lot more by people who only can be motivated to get off their ass once every four years to vote for President.

Especially when it’s in Primaries and Local Elections that their single vote carries so much more weight - I’ve worked primaries where we’ve had 12 VOTERS THE ENTIRE DAY!

Seriously, think about that for a second if you will... in a Presidential Election millions of votes are cast but in a primary you can actually be on of 12 voters in a polling place instead of 1 in maybe 500 plus we have on the rolls for our site.

That’s how important it is to get out in those other Elections!

Anyway, I don’t have a problem with Voter ID laws. In a society where you are required to show some form of Photo ID just to get into an office building, showing an ID prior to voting isn’t such a big deal or at least it shouldn’t be and there do need to be reforms because while voter fraud may be low ideally we would like to have no voter fraud at all.

It’s not a valid counter argument that it makes it harder to vote by showing ID - not when ID is such a necessary part of everyday life.

Now, there are people that argue against Voter ID because they feel it’s racially discriminatory. I don’t really find these paternalistic arguments to hold much water and I do find them to be somewhat denigrating overall. So you can imagine my glee when I saw this:
